Pick: Mayer L. Result: 2 - 0 Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.24
Bookmaker: 5dimes vCash: No

Both players are more clay than hard courter but one year younger Leonardo Mayer is much more constant with good results on clay and hard court. He finished the 2008 season with his 5th single title in Medellin on clay and reached afterwards the quarter final in Lima. Campozano struggles since mid of Octobre where he reached the final in satellite tournament in Venezuela on hard and semi final in a satellite on clay. Afterwards he never reached a regular second round, winning only a few matches in qualification rounds.
Looking to ranking shows also the huge class difference with Mayer closing up to Top 100 and Campozano in downtrend at almost 400. So thats my first full stake bet in 2009 and I think odds between 1.2 and 1.25 (available at Jetbull and Doxxbet) are worth full stakes.

Pick: Nalbandian ML Result: 2 - 0 Stake: 6/10 Odds: 1.40

Michael Llodra plays simply lousy tennis since French Open and following Gerry Weber Open in Halle - never reaching more than a second round while David Nalbandian plays great since Octobre winning Stockholm on indoor hard and reaching the finals in Basel and Paris on indoor hard where he lost to Roger Federer and Wilfried Tsonga which is no shame at all.
Looking at ranking its Nalbandian on 11 and Llodra on 56, but split ranking speaks an even more clear language seeing Nalbandian on 10 and Llodra on 178. Everything else than Nalbandian going to 3rd round would be a big surprise for me and I think odds on him will drop further.

Pick: S Williams ML Result: 2 - 0 Stake: 6/10 Odds: 1.21

Since winning Slovenia Open in Portoroz back in August Sara Errani had to struggle and lost a lot of first and second round matches till she had a little comeback in Brisbane where she lost semi final to later tournament winner Victoria Azarenka.
Not much to say about Serena Williams here. She has an unbelievable hard court record of 134-22, won 33 single and 4 double titles in her career, including 9 Grand Slams. So even 1.21 is a generous offer which I'm pleased to take at medium stakes.

Carla Suarez Navarro played a great 2008 season reaching the final in Tenerife on hard, quarter final in Roland Garros on clay and semi final in Forest Hills on hard. Afterwards it was like falling in a hole playing 8 matches and loosing 6 out of them.
About todays opponent Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova I wrote already for the match against Rezai which she lost in straight two sets. But it does not change my opinion about her and considering abilities and form she should go here to next round.

Pick: L Hewitt ML Result: 1 - 2 Stake: 2/10 Odds: 1.55
Bookmaker: Unibet vCash: No

28 year old Julien Benneteau has a 75-69 record on hard. The only title he won in his carreer is almost 5 years back - in the hard indoor challenger of Andrezieux. But he played a fine 2008 season anyway. His highlights were:
- Semi final in Auckland on hard
- final in Bergamo on indoor hard
- final in Casablanca on clay and
- final in Lyon on carpet.
His opponent Lleyton Hewitt should be far too strong - just lets have a look at his stats. His record on hard reads 164-53. he won 28 titles and besides one on clay every title was on hard, indoor hard or grass.
Looking at ranking (Benneteau on 40 and Hewitt on 70) and H2H which is 1-1 with last match beeing 6-3 7-5 in the favour of Benneteau on hard in Las Vegas you could expect an open match. I dont think so. In my opinion Hewitt has everything on his side - experience, weapons on hard and quick surfaces and the crowd behind him. Average odds on Hewitt are 1.46 at Betbrain and thats a fair price. So 1.55 will not be there long - if you want to take it, grab it at low stakes.

Pick: Dementieva ML Result: 2 : 0 Stake: 8/10 Odds: 1.15

Not much to say here. I admit Rezai suprised me to beat Pavlyuchenkova in 2 sets. BUT - we're not talking in this round about a teenage newcomer on tour. We're talking about No 4 in the world and Olympic Champion. I see not one weapon for Rezai to be dangerous to Dementieva here - if the match goes against us - it will be cause maybe Dementieva beats herself. But considering form and marching through tournament so far loosing no set and only 17 games in three matches I doubt this gonna happen.

17 year old Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is one of the greatest talents women tennis has. Young lady from Russia went pro at the age of 14 and her power and playing abilities at this age makes coming up pictures of young Jennifer Capriati, Steffi Graf or Monica Seles. She already won 8 tournaments in her young carreer. 2006 in her first year as pro she won the Australian Open Juniors, Casale on clay and US Open Juniors. 2007 she defended her Australian Juniors title successfully and 2008 she won Minsk on carpet and Moscow, Poitiers, and Bratislava on indoor hard. Her opponent is 21 year old Aravane Rezai. She won 5 titles so far - but 4 of them on clay where she has more weapons than on quick surfaces. In first round she already had to struggle and needed 3 sets against Eleni Daniilidou whereas Anastasia had no mercy with Kristina Barrois - defeating her 6-3 6-1.
1.5 is a great offer - I would even play a 1.3 here and I think odds will drop till start of the match.

The new season starts and you never know how players come back from their holliday breaks. So thats the best time in the season to look for value odds. This is one. We have two players who play around Top 100 - Gimeno-Traver actually ranked on 90, Greul on 126. Split ranking sees Gimeno-Traver at 397 on hard and Greul on 63. But does this make Gimeno-Traver a 37% underdog as Pinnacle odds suggest? I think no and take young player from Spain at medium stakes to reach next round here.

Pick: Lu Y-H Result: 0 : 2 Stake: 6/10 Odds: 1.45
Bookmaker: Bet-at-home vCash: No
Posted: Oct 30, 2008, 12:57
Both players made all their titles on hard and indoor hard, but in my eyes Lu is the more in form player at the moment.
Kevin Kim had his best 2008 tournaments between mid of July and mid of September when he won Aptos, reached the final of Vancouver and won Tulsa. In the end of September he reached quarter final in Lubbock but then had 4 first round losses in a row to have a little comeback here, beating Adrian Cruciat and Rik de Voest in the first two rounds.
Yen-Hsun Lu played great in the first 5 months winning Waikoba, reaching semi final in Kyoto on carpet, reaching the finals in Busan (April tournament), Lanzarote and New Delhi (winning the first tournament and lost final of 2nd one).
He then fell in a little hole but had a great comeback this month winning Tashkent and going to semi final in Seoul.
H2H is 2-0 in the favour of Lu and I think tomorrow it will be 3-0.

Pick: Marcos D. Result: 2 : 1 Stake: 5/10 Odds: 1.56
Bookmaker: 5dimes vCash: No
Posted: Oct 30, 2008, 12:09
Both players love to play on clay which their history shows. 20 year old Santiago Giraldo won 6 tournaments so far - 3 satellites and three challengers - all on clay. His 2008 record reads 35-26 all over and 24-17 on clay.
His 2008 highlights were reaching the final in Furth and semi final in first Cali tournament 5 weeks ago where he lost to todays opponent Marcos Daniel 6-3 6-2.
30 year old Marcos Daniel plays a 34-22 season so far - with a 31-14 record on clay winning already 3 tournaments this year:
- Bogota in March and September and
- first Cali tournament in September
10 of his 11 career titles were on clay and H2H is 7-1 in the favour of Marcos Daniel. Considering form, experience and playing abilities I think Marcos Daniel will go to quarter final here.

19 year old Donald Young had his best 2008 tournaments on quick surfaces reaching quarter final in Memphis, winning Sacramento and reaching semi final in Calabasas (last two tournaments both in this month).
2 years older Ryan Sweeting loves quick surfaces also reaching quarter finals in Dallas, Tallahassee and Calabasas. Both players met last year on indoor hard and Donald won 6-4 6-2 (also on indoor hard). I dont know if task now will be much harder, but considering actual form I think Donald Young will be the one to go to quarter final here.
